Cheek Store Building, 1907, Canon

J. A. & B. F. Cheek owned this large storefront on Depot Street. The facade on the left has been altered but the larger section on the right retains recessed entryways and imprinted marble kickplates identifying the Cheeks and the year of construction.

C. D. Bolton Company, Tignall

C. D. Bolton was a prominent entrepreneur and landowner in Wilkes County. This general store was the busiest in Tignall in its heyday.

I haven’t been able to locate a construction date but I would guess 1910s. It’s an important surviving commercial structure and should be preserved.

Danielsville Hardware

Danielsville GA Madison County Hardware Stoer Photograph Copyright Brian Brown Vanishing North Georgia USA 2015

This place is a landmark, and a living landmark at that. The whole time I was walking around the courthouse square, cars were pulling in and out of here constantly. They had a great selection of flowers and garden plants right out front and it seemed to be the place to be in Danielsville. The first floor is a traditional hardware store while the second floor is filled with antiques.

Located in the 1930 Lowe Building, Poss Ace Hardware is an amazing survivor, a reminder of the days when every small town had one or two local hardware stores. The old Ford truck was an added bonus.
